Family and Youth Pastor
Wasilla Christian Church

 

 

The Family and Youth Pastor must share the vision of the Senior Pastor for the making of disciples and leaders.  The Family and Youth Pastor must be able to teach, motivate, encourage and challenge members and leaders in personal discipleship.  The Family and Youth Pastor is supervised by the Senior Pastor on a day-to-day basis, with job description and qualifications determined by the Elders.  This will include oversight of the following areas:

 

Youth & Family Ministry

 

The Family and Youth Pastor will be responsible for developing and executing a Youth Ministry Program that accomplishes the following things:

 

• Contribute to the spiritual growth of our Youth
• Train Parents to be Godly Parents
• Reinforce the teachings of Parents
• Provide ministry/service opportunities for the Youth
• Reach out to the youth of the community

 

The Family and Youth Pastor will accomplish these things by through the execution and hands on involvement of the following programs: (This list is not all inclusive)

 

• A weekly youth program
• Father/Son and Mother/Daughter Events
• Seminars for Parents
• Service Projects
• Develop Family based ministry

 

The Family and Youth Pastor will also oversee and help coordinate:

 

• Men’s Ministry
• Women’s Ministry
• Couples Ministry

 

Children’s Education

 

• Oversee the management of the Christian Education Director.
• Determine curriculum for Sunday Morning classes for children ages two through eighteen.
• Facilitate the execution of Sunday Morning classes for children ages two through eighteen.

 

 

Small Group Ministry

 

• Facilitate Small Group Ministry by:
  • Training Small Group Leaders
  • Determining Small Group Hosts
  • Determine/Review Small Group Curriculum
  • Plug new church attendees into small groups as needed
  • Maintain attendance records from group leaders in order to track participation.

 

Ministerial Duties

 

• The Family and Youth Pastor shall conduct weddings, funerals, baptisms, etc. as requested by family and relevant members.
• The Family and Youth pastor shall occasionally fulfill pulpit duties at the request of the Senior Pastor or the Elders.  He shall seek the salvation and then maturing of the congregation through evangelism in teaching and preaching of Scripture.
• The Family and Youth Pastor shall provide or arrange for the provision of counseling members as needed.
• The Family and Youth Pastor shall follow-up or arrange for such on all visitors.
• The Family and Youth Pastor shall teach as necessary.
• The Family and Youth Pastor shall visit or arrange for the visitation of the sick and shut-ins.
• The Family and Youth Pastor shall provide, in conjunction with the elders and other ministers, a vision of outreach to the community.
• The Family and Youth Pastor shall, in conjunction with the elders or other ministers, prayerfully provide direction for the development, planning, and programming of the church all the while carefully discerning the spirit of the church.
• The Family and Youth Pastor shall be committed to his own family, seeing that their needs are met and thereby providing an example to the congregation of a Godly home.
• Other duties as assigned

 

Professional Duties:

 

The Family and Youth Pastor shall pursue community involvement representing his vocation in the civic arenas and thereby extending his spiritual influence to the public sphere.

 

• The Family and Youth Pastor shall represent our church in citywide events when appropriate and necessary.
• If desired, the Family and Youth Pastor shall avail himself of opportunities for professional development as they become available and where they do not conflict with fulfilling his primary obligations.
• The Family and Youth Pastor shall be concerned for gaining and keeping the good will of the community toward the congregation.
• Other duties as assigned.

 

Administrative Duties

The Family and Youth Pastor shall participate in staff and elder meetings.

• The Family and Youth Pastor shall participate in ad hoc committees as necessary, serving as a resource person in an advisory position only.
• The Family and Youth Pastor shall work with the elders to administer church discipline as necessary.
• The Family and Youth Pastor shall be responsible for mentoring and developing staff members towards the goal of ministerial excellence.  Under the counsel of the elders, he shall organize, counsel and assist the members of the Body and staff in fulfilling their responsibilities in reaching, leadership and administering the various ministries both in written and oral communication.
• The Family and Youth Pastor shall exemplify and advocate clear and effective communication in all areas of church life and activity.
• Other duties assigned.
